As a private Institution, Taylor’s University is committed to sustaining its positive momentum and seeking new ways to further enhance its potential through the Centre for Research and Innovation in Tourism (CRiT). Tourism has been recognized as a major global activity, attracting foreign exchange and investments while providing employment and acting as an impetus for development.

In Malaysia, tourism has become one of the largest and fastest-growing industries. The Centre for Research and Innovation in Tourism (CRiT) aims to play a significant role to make this fast-growing industry a vehicle for future sustainable development. Therefore, contributing to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through tourism at national and international levels is the main future direction of the CRiT.  

CRiT advocates transformation of tourism industry and act as a change agent, both locally and internationally, by providing expertise and knowledge transfer to public and private  organisations in tourism and the affiliated fields of hospitality and events. CRiT aims to produce innovation in tourism through research and consultancy which will contribute to the enhancement of the industry and the nation for a sustainable future.

  • To be a leading research university that will actively contribute to the generation and dissemination of new knowledge as well as enhancement of the tourism in Malaysia and international level.

  • To conduct relevant and innovative research in tourism applicable to the industry

  • To undertake fundamental research in tourism to enhance knowledge

  • To obtain national and international funding for research in tourism

  • To strengthen and support tourism research

  • To enhance the impact of research in tourism

  • To consolidate research activities in tourism that they are carried out systematically and efficiently

  • To conduct research in areas of need in tourism as determined by industry and government

  • To encourage innovation and the creation of knowledge through research in tourism

  • To promote collaboration between public and private universities and institutions in tourism

  • To establish partnerships with other research institutions and centres for data and information sharing
